Summer Bishil Bio

   Summer Bishil was raised in Pasadena (California). The family she was raised with moved to the United States when she was just three. Summer attended American as well as British schools as her family lived abroad. Her return to Pasadena California, just before her 14th birthday. Summer was attracted by the idea she would one day be an actor since the age five she took her first acting course at age 14. Nine months after that, she signed with an agent/manager, and started her full-time work. She is currently working towards her degree at college in her spare time. One of the young stars included in Vanity fair's cover story, "Hollywood's New Wave: The Hottest Kids in Hollywood" in August 2008.Was named one of the "Ten Actors to Watch" by Variety (2007).Nominee for Best Actress - Spirit Award. Bishil began taking acting lessons at the age of 14. Within a year Bishil was offered the contract of a manager or agency. Bishil was initially seen in the Nickelodeon television series Just for Kicks. She was later seen in a variety of other shows for children. In 2007, she played the lead character in Alan Ball's film Towelhead, an adaptation of the novel. Dana Stevens, a critic for Slate who praised Bishil's performance was "the most honest thing" in a film that had the best intentions, but it was utterly fake and a little embarrassing. It was as if it was an extended PSA on inappropriate touching. Bob Strauss, a Los Angeles newspaper journalist, stated that Bishil "...is one of the most gifted natural actors in recent times. In a September 12 Los Angeles Times review, Gary Goldstein stated that Summer Bishil is who is a "...newcomer, gives an intense and thrilling performance as Jasira. She filmed Wayne Kramer’s Crossing Over project in 2009 and starred Harrison Ford and Ray Liotta. Jay Reiner of the Associated Press liked her portrayal. She was selected to play Azula in M. Night Shyamalan’s film The Last Airbender (2010). The sequel was not made.
