Don Rickles Biography

 Don Rickles was an American comedian and writer. He also acted as an actor. He was an entertainer and is highly regarded. He was a combination of humor and quick wit and a genuine love for his audience, that made him an ideal source of laughter, enjoyment and entertainment. The ability of his insults to sound humorous and not offensive was what made him a frequent participant on the celebrity roast circuits. His crude and hurtful insults were a source of ridicule, but the recipient would always laugh. Although he started as a regular performer and did pre-rehearsed jokes at first, he changed his plans when he realized that his spontaneous insults were more popular than his prepared material. He was adored by many, including Frank Sinatra. He also appeared in several TV and film productions. He also produced two comedy albums. He received numerous awards including a Lifetime Achievement award from The Comedy Awards. His style of comedy that incorporated insinuations has earned him many nicknames, like 'The Merchant of Venom' The Insultan' 'Mr. Don Rickles only had small TV roles after his graduation. To earn a living, he started performing stand-up comedy, and later created his "insult comedian" persona. In the 1970s, he began by playing a key role in the movie "Kelly's Heroes" (1970), starring Clint Eastwood. He was also a part of television comedy shows such as "The Don Rickles' (1972) or "The Dean Martin Roasts" (1973). Don Rickles married Barbara Sklar on the 14th of March in 1965. They had two children, Mindy (the daughter) and Larry (the son). Larry, their son, died in 2011. Bob Newhart was their best friend and they frequently took holidays together. They have appeared together on many shows, including  Newhart.' Don Rickles died from kidney disease on April 6, 2017, at his home in Beverly Hills, California.
